7-7-07

Did anyone read about the naming of the new 7 wonders of the world? Thought it was interesting. I actually was showing a book this week to the girls about the original 7 wonders of the world and was thinking how cool it would be to travel back in history to see them. Only one of the original 7 survives today (the Great Pyramid at Giza).

Follow the link to see the new 7 wonders. http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php?id=633

My question for you is which of the new wonders would you like to visit the most and WHY??

It is hard for me to narrow down, but my top three choices are: the Colloseum (I love Roman and Greek architecture and to visit these areas is a must on my future travel to do list), Machu Picchu (looks so beautiful, I love the mountainous setting), and The Great Wall (so massive, I just have to see someday - there is also a marathon on it, maybe I could do someday?)

Our friends just went to the Great Wall and said it is a workout just to walk on it. How in the world could you run a marathon up and down the stairs, etc?? I definitely want to see all the sights!

I want to visit India, but not necessarily just to see the Taj Mahal. Want to go to China, but not necessarily just to walk the Great Wall. If it's just based solely on the sights, then Machu Pichu and Chichen Itza (sp?). and Pompei's Pillar. We pass the sign every time we go to MT, but Jenny says she can't handle the excitement so we've never gone.

I think I would first visit Machu Picchu. It would be cool to set a goal to see all 7 of the new wonders.

I would like to see Petra, Jorden because I remember it from the Indiana Jones movie, and I remember thinking then that I would like to see it in person.

We were actually looking for what the vote was on my trip.

Of the 7 New Wonders and the finalists, I've been to these:
Machu Picchu
The Colosseum
Eiffel Tower
Hagia Sophia
Neuschwanstein Castle
Statue of Liberty

Where do I want to go most?
Probably Petra and the Great Wall of China, but it sounds hot in both places.
