I must confess, my favorite blogs to read (besides my family members', of course) are blogs about productivity and life enrichment. I have several blogs I read each week dedicated to being happier, being organized, being more productive. I'm always striving to find little gems that can help me in my daily routine. One thing I came upon this week was a video that really hit home about being a parent. It is a short video by the author of a blog called The Happiness Project. It is called The Years are Short and just thought I'd share it with you.
I'm so enjoying the past few days - the weather has been beautiful and I haven't been obsessing about "What have I got to do next?". I feel so lucky to be able to work mostly from home and be able to enjoy summer activities with my kids like neighborhood walks, lunch in the park, or just playing in the backyard. These things are pretty normal, but I realize that if I worked outside the home, I wouldn't be able to do these things each day, and for that I'm thankful!

I've been thinking a lot about time lately. Ran on to an interesting article (OK, I admit it was in an AARP publication) which included this quote: "I value time more than I ever thought I would. People who say time is money are wrong. Time is better than money, and I want as much as I can possibly have. I want 12 hours of Saturday morning in bed and 3 hours over a cup of tea with my best friend. A few years ago I never thought about time at all. When a very dear friend was coming to the end of her life, she decided to help me out of the indecisive, puzzled, puzzling spot I was in... "Look, darling,” she said, tapping her watch. “From age 50 to 80 it’s not minutes—it’s seconds. Pay attention.” I must not have looked as if I was paying enough attention, because she put her hand on my wrist and squeezed. “It’s seconds. You think you know, but you don’t.”
I loved that little movie! It changes your perspective instantly! Thanks for sharing!!
That was a good movie. I honestly think every day about how fast Carter will grow up and that I need to enjoy every moment with him while he is still a little baby! I know all the kids will grow fast, but it's when they're tiny babies that seems to fly by the fastest.
One thing I loved when you kids were little was to read Mother Goose with you and then before I knew it that was too babyish. So it was fun when Evan was here to read Mother Goose with him. Maybe for some things you have a second chance at happiness!
